Terms of Service

1.Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] ("Debut", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app you accept them. If you do not agree with them, please do not use Debut.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and forms part of this agreement.

2.You must be 18 or over

Debut is strictly for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account. We ask for your date of birth before your account is created and refuse anyone under 18 at that point, and the same rule is enforced by our database independently of the app.

If we find that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it and everything attached to it.

3.Your account

• Give accurate information, including your real date of birth and first name.
• One account per person. Do not create an account for anyone else, or pretend to be someone you are not.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• Debut is for your own personal, non-commercial use. Do not use it to advertise, recruit, solicit or sell anything.

4.How Debut works

You create a date: an area, a kind of venue, a budget and a time. We look for one person whose preferences fit and offer it to them. They accept or pass. If they accept, the date is confirmed and a chat opens between the two of you inside the app. The chat closes automatically 24 hours after the date. Afterwards you each rate the date and the person.

We cannot promise you will be matched. Matching depends on other people being on Debut in your city, wanting the kind of date you offered, and saying yes. There is no guarantee of a match, a reply, or that anyone will turn up.

5.Zero tolerance: behaviour and content

Debut has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. There is no warning system and no strike count. If you do any of the following, your account can be suspended or removed permanently, without notice:

• Harassing, threatening, intimidating, stalking or bullying anyone;
• Sending sexually explicit, violent, hateful, obscene or otherwise objectionable messages;
• Hate speech, or abuse directed at someone's race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age;
• Content or behaviour that sexualises or endangers a minor, which we also report to the authorities;
• Impersonating another person, or lying about your age;
• Sharing anyone's private information, or content they did not consent to;
• Soliciting money, promoting a business, running a scam, or any commercial or fraudulent use;
• Illegal activity of any kind, or arranging any through Debut;
• Attempting to break, overload, scrape or gain unauthorised access to the service.

This applies to everything you write: messages, the venue names you type, and the text you enter when reporting someone.

6.Reporting, blocking and what we do about it

You can report a person before you accept a date, from the chat, or by pressing and holding an individual message. You can block anyone from the chat.

What we commit to:

• Every report reaches us immediately and is reviewed within 24 hours.
• Where a report is upheld we act on it by removing content and suspending or permanently removing the account responsible.
• We may act on a serious report straight away, before any investigation is finished.

Blocking takes effect immediately and does not wait for us. It ends any date in progress between you, closes the chat, and permanently prevents the two of you being matched again in either direction. The person you block is not told.

We may also suspend or remove an account where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect other people, whether or not anyone has reported it.

7.Meeting people is at your own risk

Please read this carefully. Debut has safety features, and we do not want them to leave you with the wrong impression about what they do.

We do not screen anyone. We run no criminal background checks. We do not verify anyone's identity, name, age or anything else they tell you. We do not confirm that a person is who they claim to be. Asking for a date of birth at signup is not identity verification. It is a self-declared date, and nothing more.

You are solely responsible for how you interact with other people, online and in person. Use ordinary caution: meet at the public venue you agreed on, tell a friend where you are going and when, arrange your own transport, and leave whenever you want to. If you feel unsafe, contact your local emergency services. Debut has no ability to reach anyone on your behalf and cannot help you in an emergency.

8.Venue suggestions in Explore

The venues listed in Explore are our own suggestions, written by us. They are not advertisements.

• We have no partnership, sponsorship, affiliation or commercial arrangement with any business named in the app, and nobody has paid to appear. Naming a business does not mean it endorses Debut, or that we endorse it.
• Details such as prices, opening hours and whether a place is still trading can change or be wrong. Check before you go. Any budget shown is a rough guide, not a price.
• We are not responsible for anything that happens at a venue, or for the goods, service or conduct of any business. Your visit is between you and them.
• You can create a date anywhere. The list is a starting point, not a restriction.

Users cannot add, review, rate or photograph venues. Explore contains no content submitted by users.

9.Ratings

After a date you rate the date and the person. Rate honestly and in good faith. Do not use a rating to retaliate against, harass or coerce someone.

Ratings are private to whoever writes them. The person you rate cannot see the rating you gave them. You can see your own overall average, but not the individual scores or who left them.

10.Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. It is immediate and permanent, and what it removes is set out in our Privacy Policy. Note that because a date belongs to whoever created it, deleting your account also removes dates you created and any chat attached to them.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if we believe it is necessary to protect other users, or if we stop operating Debut. Where it is reasonable and lawful to tell you why, we will.

11.Our content and yours

Debut, its name, its design and the venue descriptions we write belong to us. Do not copy, resell or reuse them without our permission.

What you write stays yours. You give us a limited licence to store, display and transmit it for the purpose of operating Debut, such as showing your message to the person you are chatting with, and to retain and review it where that is needed for safety and moderation, as described in our Privacy Policy. That licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies kept for moderation.

12.Disclaimers and liability

Debut is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will lead to a match, a date or a relationship.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for the conduct of any user, online or in person; for anything that happens before, during or after a date; for the acts or omissions of any venue; or for indirect or consequential loss. [LIABILITY CAP / TO BE SET WITH COUNSEL]

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13.Changes to the service and these terms

Debut is early and will change. We may add, alter or remove features. If we make a material change to these terms we will update this page, change the "last updated" date, and tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Debut after that means you accept the change.

14.Governing law
